These cookies are sweet, simple, warm, and homey. I've taken the liberty of dubbing them Cinnamon Roll Cookies, though their original name was Iced Cinnamon Chip Cookies. I think they taste just like buttery glazed cinnamon rolls in chewy cookie form!
We loved them -- definitely going in the "make again" pile!

To read more about this recipe, see a closeup of cookie goodness, see some wonky cheese straws, or to enjoy at least two references to hamsters, please head over to my baking blog, Willow Bird Baking!

Just curious if anyone has any experience with these jeans?:

I have a pair of Faded Glory Stretch bootcut (not so much, they're straight legged almost skinnyish leg) jeans that I love, I've had them for years and these look very similar to me. Since I've worn the hell out of the Faded Glory jeans I'm looking for something similiar to replace them. They are the most flattering, comfy jeans I've ever worn... so even if you don't have experience with these particular LB jeans and know of something similar then I'd definitely be interested in hearing about them.
Thanks in advance.

i was feeling a bit blue this weekend (despite going on a very welcome "glee" binge and watching all 13 episodes), so i decided dress up my monday morning by wearing a dress to work. i've been there for 2 years and i've only worn a skirt once - i usually wear slacks and a nice shirt.

How to rock this pencil skirt

I scored a sweet bright red pencil skirt at the local Value Village for $7. It fits like it was made for me! I really want to accessorize it with a belt or sash, but I'm having trouble figuring out what looks best. Also, I think the whole look makes me look kind of dumpy instead of retro chic. I have worn it with some success with a long cardigan over it and some boots, the cardigan hides the sides and butt a little. But I'm looking for tips to rock this without a cardigan.

Since they only ship to The USA and Canada it seems that it would a bit complicated for them to ship me something. Anyway, long story short, I asked them if they could eventually offer !something to my readers. They generously offered two $25 gift certicates! So now I am having my first giveaway! Yay! LOL It is only opened to Americans and Canadians so I thought I'd plug it here so you could have a chance to win. :) The winners will be picked randomly so don't be afraid to leave a comment!

this year i decided to make all hand/homemade gifts due to financial issues, which resulted in a cornucopia of me learning new and different things (crocheting, to name one). in addition to my usual gross+ of cookies i make every christmas, i also made some fudge sauce, caramel sauce, caramel corn and tex-mex nuts to give away as gifts. and while i was at it, i made my hubby some lemon curd because he loooves the stuff.
and surprisingly, everything was EASY to make.

The skirt is from LB; I'm wearing it high, pulled up to my bra, but I'm not entirely convinced that's not how it's supposed to be worn; it certainly seems cut to be worn that way plus look at the length. It looks right as I'm wearing it.
The sweater I got on eBay, I'm wearing an Old Navy brown tank underneath. Socks from Sock Dreams, Earth Shoe clogs from eBay. Necklace from eBay.
Model is 5'7", 263 lbs, 22/24 on top and 24/26 on bottom. Skirt is a 26.

Today was "Touch of Class" at school, where everyone was encouraged to dress up. I interpreted this as a "minimal touch of thrifted fance" and thought is was the perfect oppurtunity to wear this new skirt. I've never worn a clutch before, but thought the pale yellow worked well with the skirt. It did, but clutches are annoying, and my hand actually cramped, so this may have been the first and last time for me. A friend and I bought each other roses, that were delivered to everyone during their period 2 classes. Mine froze on the way home, and then wilted the second it defrosted. It's a shame since roses are beautiful.
( more pictures after the cut )
Skirt is thrifted, marked as a size 24 1/2.
Shirt is from Old navy, size XXL.
Tights are from Addition-Elle, size 3X.
Shoes are thrifted, marked as a men's size 9 1/2 W.
Clutch is second hand, originally from the Gap.
Pin and necklace are both thrifted.
As always:
I'm a 17 y/o fat high school student from Canada. I'm 5'9.5 and my measurements are roughly 52-46-53. Cross-posted to my blog http://anomalousallure.blogspot.com/

Pulled Chicken Goulash

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's official: I've graduated from college! I'm done! It's amazing. I can hardly believe it myself. I don't think that it will really hit me until January when most people I know are going back to school and I'm not. Yesterday, I even read a book that I actually wanted to read, not something that I was going to be tested on or have to write a paper on. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and whatnot. Now all I have to do is get married in three weeks!
I made this goulash when I was still working my way through school (many moons ago). Crock pot recipes are a life saver, aren't they? Goulash is traditionally more of a stew, with potatoes and other vegetables, but this pulled version soaks up a bit more of the broth that's created by cooking. It can be eaten alone or with a big piece of crusty bread. The original recipe I saw for this was made with pork (which I've done since I've made this chicken goulash and it was excellent), but I had chicken, so that's what I used. This goulash is absolutely mouthwatering. The combination of red onions, garlic, and chile peppers with the chicken are to die for, and a sort of broth forms from the juices of the chicken, vegetables, red wine vinegar, and brown sugar. Kramer actually called me when I was at work to tell me how good it was, and we ate it for a few days afterward as leftovers; it really just gets better and better. This is a great way to change up what you normally make in the crock pot, so go for it! Recipe after the cut or on my blog at The Crepes of Wrath.

( Ancient mariner in a sea of sand )
I was thrilled when the top fit when I tried it on over a turtleneck, but the belt for the bottom was too small. After an unsuccessful search for green elastic I settled on buying a length of ribbon, cutting it and tying the sides together instead. It turned out really well IMO. I just need to sew the slits together a teeny bit before I wear it onstage since I have no intention of flashing my panties if I can avoid it, and it can, so I shall.
Your model is 5'7"-ish, 210lbs and wears a 14-18 depending on cut, brand, etc. :)

I wish I'd seen it earlier to let people know, but flouting convention, the MIT Gilbert and Sullivan Players have cast a very cute plus size actress as Yum Yum in The Mikado. I saw it tonight and it was excellent.
this is she:
http://www.julielaurenstevens.com/
She has an amazing voice, and it was refreshing that they didn't cast Yum Yum based on being tiny (a tradition going back to Gilbert himself, who wrote Three Little Maids from School as a jest inspired by/for petite women in D'oyly Carte), as has so often been the main requirement.
There is only one more performance left! It is at 2pm, today, Saturday the 12th, so I don't know if this will get out to people in time, but I thought I'd give you a chance if you're in the Boston area and free this afternoon. So sorry I didn't know sooner!
the performance is on the second floor of the Student Center at 84 Massachusetts Ave.

hey fats and friends!!
i just had to share, i had a hannukah vintage miracle this week: a pair of knee-high brown leather boots in perfect condition that zip over my calves. no label or anything. they fit my wide, short legs perectly. they are a big higher in the heel than i am used to wearing, and i have yet to give them a real test drive, AND my camera and computer are in a fight so i cant post a pic. but damn and i ever excited about owning them.
oh, did i mention they were only $27??
jeez. miracle!!
